It’s surprising in Cabernet-dominant Napa Valley that OKD is able to grow, in addition to Cabernet, so many different varietal wines – as many as 18! OKD – with its noticeably cooler summer temperatures and healthy alluvial soils- is like a “sweet spot” in Napa Valley where winemakers are able to grow a huge range of white and red varieties – from Albariño to Zinfandel. Brightness, elegance, and balance are the typical traits of wines grown in the Oak Knoll District. And like an unsung hero, OKD grapes have historically been used quietly by many Napa Valley winemakers to liven-up their blends! The wineries and growers of the Oak Knoll District (OKD) have selected these varietal examples that they feel demonstrate how this perfect pocket of Napa Valley can succeed so deftly with so many classic grape varieties. Enjoy the tour!
